House Group InformationWhen and where? What do we study? How can you join?Worshipping with God's family each Sunday is great, but in this atmosphere sharing our lives and situations may not be easy. This is where Housegroups come in. These are groups that meet regularly in and around the parish and create the ideal environment for people to get to know each other, have fun, and be able to focus on God, the Bible and prayer. If you are interested in joining any of these groups please follow the e-mail link at the bottom of the page or speak to one of the staff team. Monday St Barts Group - Meets in term time 2nd & 4th Mondays at 8pmChesterfield Road - SheilaOur focus is on fellowship, centred around Bible-based discussion, relating our faith to today's world, sharing our concerns and praying for them together. Once every two months we have a time of meditation (silent prayer) and then share prayers, poems or other writings that we have found very significant. New people are always welcome. We also enjoy eating together on a regular basis, to which we invite partners who may not normally come to the group, and also sometimes invite other members of St Michaels , especially those who are new to the church. Open House Group - Meets 2nd & 4th Wednesdays 8.00-9.45pmMaple Road - DavidWe aim to have an environment in which we can all share our spiritual concerns about living in today's world. Discussion is wide-ranging over many topics - and challenging! We supplement our study of the Bible with other books and videos and occasionally have guest speakers. Newcomers will receive a warm welcome. Come and join us! We are currently using the KYB (Know Your Bible) study series, which focuses on books of the Bible. Our venue changes to suit our members' needs. New people are always welcome to join us. The Upper Room Club (so-called because of its first venue in the upper room of the old Gospel Hall) - Meets in term time on alternate Friday evenings at 7.30pmSt Michael's Church Centre - JohnThis is a 'house group' for those who are vulnerable with special needs. At each session we tell each other what we have been doing since we last met, and we thank God for blessings experienced. We listen to talks on topical Christian subjects, have visiting speakers, sing songs, play games and have refreshments. Christian Basics GroupsInformal groups covering the basics of the Christian faith are arranged from time to time. These are ideal for new Christians wishing to find out more, or for those who've been a Christian for a long time and are seeking a 'refresher' course. These courses also serve as preparation for those wishing to be confirmed, although attending the course does not commit anyone to go forward for confirmation. There's also Christian Basics for Young People - contact Jeremy Peters under Youth on the main menu. For more information about any of the house groups click here |
