A beautiful, modern House of God where people worship every week. The main Sunday morning service is at 9.30am. This is either Holy Communion, or All-age Holy Communion (normally on the second Sunday of the month), with separate activities for children and young people. Holy Communion is always celebrated at 8.00am. Prayer for healing is held occasionally as part of the main morning service. Evening Prayer is at 6.30pm (4pm in winter) and there is a mid-week Holy Communion on a Thursdays at 10.30am. The Church of the Good Shepherd has served the community for the past 80 years as the local population has grown. 2008 has seen a double celebration in the life of the church, with a programme of special services and events arranged throughout the year celebrating of 80 years since the Good Shepherd Church was founded, and 50 years since the present building was dedicated. The Church Hall is a popular venue for clubs, classes and children's parties and many other church and community activities. For hall bookings, contact Geoff Day on 962 3734. Other church activities on offer include: Ticky Tacky Club - a Bible-based crafts group for pre-school children every Friday morning during term time. Streetwise @ COGS After-School Club - A bible-based activity club for children in school years Reception to Yr.6 and their parents/carers, meeting on the second Friday of each month - and includes a cooked meal for the children! Luncheon Club - Friday, for older people who might otherwise be on their own. Mothers Union, Tuesday Club and the Ladies Group - are also very active and offer a varied programme of speakers, entertainment and other interesting evenings.
